Last week we spoke about Machine from the 7M Business Growth Model.

Without this you are destined to work in business forever, unable to extract yourself from the daily grind.

Life is not fun.

Potentially you have limited freedom, and limited time for yourself, family and friends.

Have you ever run a race and felt so tired at the end that you can’t take another step? Have you felt like this in your business as well? It’s not fun is it?

When you do get this right though you open up a business that you run, not the other way round.

With this you are going to have the freedom to be in your business as much or as little as you want to. You have choices.

This week, we’re going to look at the fifth Irrefutable Law.

MEMBERS – The Powerful People Process

If you don’t get this right then you’re destined to work by yourself without a team. Your business can’t grow, because there is only so many hours in the day you as 1 person, can work. You can’t increase capacity. You have to work.

Who is working so hard now, that they feel tired, your energy is possibly flagging and maybe you can’t see and end in sight.

If this is you, Who would like an end in sight, so you see the horizon – a finishing point.

Without knowing this, if you have a team they will be chaotic, uncontrolled and ineffective, so much so that you wish you were on your own again.

However when you do get this right then the team will run the business for you and make you even more money. Imagine if you have a team even if it’s only one other, or possibly even 30 staff – imagine walking in the door to your business and seeing your staff smiling, the productivity is consistently good, and you think, – stuff it, I don’t need to be here. Let’s go on that trip to NZ with Pete, that he talked about before!!!!

I’m talking about MEMBERS.

Having the right team, a High Performing Team, working consistently and all pulling in the same direction.

Having the right people to run your business is what I call The Powerful People Process.

Now there’s three types of people you need to pay attention to in business.

Number one, your staff or your outsourced contractors, people you give stuff to do because as the Business Owner you should be leveraging other people. You shouldn’t be doing everything yourself. Which you possibly are.

Have you ever had to deal with a frustrating employee? Someone not doing what they’ve been tasked to do, even though you have asked and asked. And you’re paying them to do that task!!!! They’re an employee for goodness sake.

How much attention did it take from you? How annoying was it? What were the consequences to you and your business?

When you have dysfunctional staff in your business, you spend your day fire-fighting and fixing problems.

When you have skilled staff, who know what and how to do their job, you have a business & High Performing Team that functions smoothly and effortlessly, with little input from you.

Who would like a business where the staff are happy and doing the work they’re paid for. They’re productive and come to work because they want to, not because they get paid?

Who would love a team or employees working collaboratively?

Next, we want you to ‘Mpower’ your employees and staff who work for you.

When you have dysfunctional staff in your business, you spend your day fire-fighting and fixing problems.

When you have skilled staff, who know and do their job, you have a business that functions smoothly and effortlessly, with little input from you.

Would you like a business where the staff are happy and doing the work they’re paid for.

I often hear business owners say, “I have an open-door policy.” As a Business Owner, this is one of the worst policies you can possibly have in your business.

What you are saying to your staff is, “Come in and interrupt me. Don’t think for yourself, bring every problem to my desk.” These Business Owners burn out pretty quickly.

Instead, have an open-door policy for say 2 hours during the day. Make this time known to staff, and adhere to it. Anything, apart from dire emergencies should be brought to you only during these times. You’ll soon find that staff, instead of waiting to see you, will probably solve the problem because they can’t be bothered waiting.

We will teach you how to have effective staff meetings to make your staff even more productive:

· that start and end on time

· that have an agenda,

· that have outcomes and

· have accountability so the outcomes are achieved and who has responsibility for those.

You’ll learn about ‘solution focused’ problem solving, and how staff can be taught to think for themselves and bring you solutions to any problems that arise.

Number two type of people you need to pay attention to in business.

Your customers. Please do me a favour. Stop selling to everybody who has a pulse and a credit card!!!! Imagine, you see a client with a pulse on their wrist – it’s going thump: thump: thump: but beating really really slowly. They’re not interested. Their pulse thumps slowly, it’s letting you know you’ve picked the wrong person – again!!!!!.

When you work with me, I’ll help you define your ideal customers so you know who to sell to. I’ll show you how to get their pulse beating really quickly!!!!!

And why would you want to talk to someone who has a slow pulse and doesn’t want to buy from you, anyway?!!!!!

And the last one, number three, the third type of person that you need to be aware of is your circle of influence.

What is a Circle of Influence? Well, it’s a group of people who think similarly to you.

And I’m going to ask you a question right now, and I want you to give yourself an honest answer here – no fudging.

Are the people you hang around with, right now, as in your closest people, are they conducive to your growth?

Because I want to tell you the truth. If you’re hanging around five negative people, who see this current business climate only as a negative then guess what, you’re going to be number six. And if you’re hanging around five people who are not earning the money you would like to earn, then you’re going to be number six as well.

Let me share a story with you. Keith a solicitor I worked with, was forever being interrupted by his staff coming to him with problem after problem. Now Keith was mid 50’s, with a good practice. He had a full head of hair, but he said to me, that he could see it starting to fall out, due to the stress of having to answer his staff’s questions and taking no responsibility to think for themselves.

He could not understand why they couldn’t, or wouldn’t think for themselves. He was exasperated and working 12 -15-hour days, trying to get his own work done as well. I helped him implement his ‘open door policy’ for 2 set periods during the day. To start with, the office was in turmoil!!!

(By The Way If you want to know what the Open door policy is, ask me. An Open door policy can be one of the worst things to have in your office.)

I also asked him to implement one question to ask his staff when they came to him. I will teach you this question at our Workshop.

Slowly over a period of time staff stopped coming to him and started to think for themselves, implement some solutions, as a result of this one question he asked them.

Today Keith works 4 days a week because he wants to, and no more than 6 hours a day. He has also had an increase in staff, and turnover is minimal. He recently went on holiday and wasn’t stressed like he usually is. He even declined some work before he left.

And we have a great formula, to help you achieve this.

And what this means for you is you’ll have people in your life you are adding value and helping you.
