CAN YOU HELP

CAN YOU HELP?

For the past 3 weeks we find ourselves camped in the vast, golden expanse of the Saudi Arabian desert, the endless dunes stretching out like waves frozen in time. As the sun dips below the horizon, casting the sky in hues of fiery orange and deep indigo, we sit in reflective silence, our minds replaying the events that led us here—

an ordeal in Iran that shook us to our core.

And now – how we get our Vehicle from the UAE peninsula to India, so we can bypass Iran, as we have been advised by NZ MFAT, not to return though Iran, as it would possibly not go well for us. We are heeding that advice seriously.

When you imagine a challenging situation, you might think of drills, training sessions, or rehearsed responses. But let me tell you, nothing—absolutely nothing—can fully prepare you for the chaos of a real-world crisis.

No amount of role-playing or meticulous planning equips you for the unknown: the shadowy abyss where fear, uncertainty, and raw survival instincts collide.

Training helps — of course, it does. It provides a framework, a thread to cling to in the tempest. But when you’re thrust into a situation with no clear endpoint, no “endex” in sight, the fear becomes palpable, like a heavy weight pressing on your chest.

You’re left wondering:

What will happen next?

What will they do with us?

In Iran, our world turned upside down.

The details of those harrowing moments are etched into our memories, like a dark, haunting painting we can’t erase.

The uncertainty gnawed at our resolve, testing our mental and emotional limits in ways we never thought possible.

It’s an experience that leaves a mark—a scar—and yet, it also reshapes you, reminding you of the fragility of freedom and the strength of the human spirit.

Now, as we navigate this unplanned detour towards getting to India via ship, we’ve put together a video to share our ordeal, and the raw, unfiltered emotions that came with it.

This isn’t just a story of hardship; it’s a call for connection, for support, and for understanding.

We’re reaching out to you, hoping that our story resonates and inspires action.

If you can support us in any way—whether through a donation, sharing our video, or simply keeping us in your thoughts—we would be deeply, profoundly grateful.

Every gesture, no matter how small, helps us keep moving forward, rebuilding our path heading east toward New Zealand.
